P'arts
P'arts gives the freedom to compose the design by yourself. Each part is made with a different material; the steel frame is accompanied with table tops made from concrete and wax. The work was selected for the contest organised by VZW A part Apart.
b.nd is a minimalistic design with the aim to emit simplicity while there is still the possibility to use the design in many different ways.
Seeing Sound
This cooperation with Philips Lighting resulted in a series of several small light sources completed with a main light source to create an atmosphere while producing music.
Direct light is provided by small spots in which the light is centrally located to cover the entire workstation. An atmosphere is created by the principle of the ‘chladni’ plate. The frequencies, generated by the music are translated into patterns that are projected into the environment through LEDs.
Embrace
The Embrace PF5 is the first draft of a possible series of shoes responding to a particular disorder, bringing comfort, protection and style to ergonomic shoes. The series name “Embrace PF5” refers to the ‘embracing’ and supporting of the foot which suffers from the ‘Plantar fasciitis’ disorder. The inflammation of the fascia on the bottom of the foot is supported by the sole of the shoe, made up of different layers.
Black Out
This concept anticipates on the potential power shortages due to the fallout of multiple nuclear reactors in Belgium in the winter of 2014-2015. Bioluminescence is used as an alternative power source to respond to the feelings of safety and security on the streets and other public places. A reaction between Luciferin and luciferase in combination with oxygen provides light. Most bioluminescent organisms, like a jellyfish, are found in the ocean and were used as inspiration for the design.
STREETVIEW BIOLUMINESCENCE
The traffic is controlled by luminous light strips that can operate both active and non-active. The existing traffic regulations are adopted and incorporated into the new system so it remains understandable.
